Job summary

TPIRC in Long Beach, CA seeks a Research Laboratory Manager/Senior Research Associate to lead day-to-day lab and biobank operations, ensure biosafety and regulatory compliance, and mentor staff. You will coordinate samples, data, and study workflows while supporting translational pulmonary and immunology research.

The role combines hands-on experimental work with administrative leadership, SOP development, budget tracking, and collaboration with investigators on study design and grant execution.

Qualifications

• PhD, Master's, or Bachelor's in Life Sciences or related field.
• Experience managing laboratory operations and biobanks.
• Hands-on experience with molecular biology and translational research techniques.
• Experience with biosafety programs and regulatory compliance.
• Experience managing equipment, inventory, procurement, and vendor relationships.
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the research laboratory and TPIRC biobank.
• Manage sample intake, processing, labeling, storage, and retrieval of biological specimens.
• Maintain chain-of-custody and link samples to longitudinal data.
• Develop, implement, and improve SOPs for lab and biobank workflows.
• Coordinate with investigators on study design, data collection, and project execution.
• Train and supervise research interns, staff, and technicians.
• Ensure regulatory compliance (IRB, HIPAA, GCP/GLP) and biosafety standards.
