Job summary

ComEd is seeking a senior Relay Engineer to design protection schemes for substation equipment, including transformers and lines up to 765 kV. The role offers leadership opportunities, coordination across departments, and potential involvement in industry committees.

The position requires a strong engineering background with 7+ years in the field, PE licensure or equivalent, and a commitment to safety and reliability. Advanced degrees are preferred for growth within the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • 7+ years of professional engineering experience; knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards, codes, methods and practices in areas of expertise.
  • Master's degree reduces required OJT by 1 year; PE license may reduce experience; real-world engineering experience emphasized.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform assignments in specialized areas requiring extensive engineering expertise.
  • Lead projects with significant financial and operational impact; may include field testing and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and implement projects; write documentation deliverables and plans; provide mentorship and guidance.
  • Act as expert in specialized area; participate in committees to advance new technologies.
