Job summary

American Electric Power Co. seeks a Regulatory Consultant Staff to join our on-site teams in Columbus, OH or Richmond, VA. You will develop testimony, respond to audits, and support witnesses while guiding strategy across rate cases, tariffs, and policy matters.

Requires deep regulatory knowledge and leadership in complex projects. The role involves travel to hearings and stakeholders, on-call requirements, and communicating with management and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 8 years of related experience.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and strong analytical problem-solving.
• Excellent oral and written communication to guide management and witnesses.

Responsibilities

• Develops direct and rebuttal testimony and responds to discovery requests.
• Leads organizational unit activities related to regulatory practice.
• Promotes professionalism and standards within the unit.
• Operates with little supervision in a complex environment.
• Provides expert input for regulatory strategy development and coordination.
• Develops, implements, and leads regulatory projects and processes.
• Participates in strategic initiatives and regulatory filings.
• Addresses company-wide regulatory issues and data-driven problem solving.
• Leads in preparation and presentation of complex regulatory subjects to management and regulatory bodies.
• Extrapolates data to reach logical conclusions and defends decisions.
