Job summary

The City of Sioux City is seeking a Recreation Coordinator to lead year‑round programming, events, and facility operations within the Parks and Recreation Department. You will oversee Cone Park operations, supervise staff, and partner with the community to deliver high‑quality experiences for all ages.

Weekday schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some evenings, nights and weekend work as needed. Residency within 30 miles of Sioux City is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Leisure Studies, Parks and Recreation or related field.
• Option: Associate’s degree with 2 years of full-time recreation experience.
• Or four years of full-time experience in recreation, facility management, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and direct events for Cone Park, Expo Center, pools and other facilities.
• Supervise part-time and seasonal staff and coordinate volunteers as needed.
• Respond to inquiries and manage public communications for the department.
• Assist with social media management and community outreach for programs.
• Coordinate daily operations and private rentals for department facilities.
• Develop and implement recreational programming and long-term planning.
