Job summary

City of Dana Point is seeking a team‑oriented Recreation Leader II to assist in coordinating and implementing recreation and community service programs and special events at the Community Center. The role involves leading activities, setting up facilities, and ensuring safety and quality of service.

The position is a journey‑level, part‑time role in the Recreation Division, with potential weekend/evening hours and opportunities to supervise junior staff.

Qualifications

• Experience in community services or recreation program implementation.
• First Aid, CPR and AED training.
• Strong customer service and safety awareness.
• Ability to supervise lower-level staff and oversee facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to recreation programs, facility rentals, and special events; set up, clean up, and prepare rooms.
• Conduct a variety of recreation programs (youth sports, arts & crafts, events, tournaments).
• Explain and enforce facility regulations; assist participants and the public.
• Assist in safety, sanitation and maintenance of facilities.
• Monitor facility use; open/close buildings for events.
• Handle fees; operate cash registers; balance cash drawer.
• Assist with processing park/facility rental requests.
• Notify supervisors of accidents; administer first aid if needed.
• Provide customer service to the public and participants.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
