Job description

This position is located on NAVAL STATION NORFOLK, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department, Community Programs. The purpose of this position is to provide a variety of duties in support of the recreation and/or internet facilities, serving as "duty manager" as assigned in the liberty programs.

Duties

Responsibilities include managing daily operations, assisting patrons, and ensuring the smooth functioning of recreation and internet facilities.

Requirements
  • Must pass all applicable records and background checks.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Starting May 7, 2025, non-affiliated individuals requesting access will need a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or another acceptable form of identification to access CNRMA Installations.
Qualifications

Resumes must include information demonstrating experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) related to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience and KSAs.

A qualified candidate must possess:

  • Familiarity with general and specific uses of computer software programs (e.g., Internet, email, games, word processing), video projector systems, and equipment related to recreation facilities to advise patrons on proper use.
  • The ability to understand and carry out basic verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic for inventory management, computing charges, making change, and preparing reports.
  • Knowledge of basic English grammar for record and report preparation.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a large group, market the program, motivate patrons, and lead a small staff with minimal supervision.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is strongly preferred.
