Job summary

Warner Bros. Discovery seeks a Principal Research Scientist (Recommender Systems) to lead personalisation and search ML initiatives for HBO Max. You will mentor ML/AI researchers and engineers and partner with product, engineering, and research teams to deliver impactful scalable solutions.

The role requires 8+ years in ML/DS with strong recommender systems and deep learning expertise, plus hands-on experience with large data platforms and modern ML frameworks.

Qualifications

• Masters in CS/Math/Engineering or related quantitative field, PhD preferred.
• 8+ years in Machine Learning, AI and Data Science with track record of impact.
• Strong experience in Recommender systems, personalization, collaborative filtering and information retrieval.
• Strong ML, deep learning, and statistical modeling expertise including causal inference and ensembles.
• Familiarity with LLM-based techniques for recommender systems and personalization.
• SQL proficiency and experience with big data platforms (AWS, Snowflake, Spark, Google Cloud).
• Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch.
• Experience deploying ML algorithms and modeling solutions; fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead large, complex ML projects and direct ML/AI researchers and engineers.
• Develop scalable ML solutions to advance personalization and search for HBO Max.
• Mentor team and introduce new technologies and processes.
• Partner with ML engineering leadership to design scalable systems.
• Formulate ML/AI roadmap areas and communicate them to stakeholders.
• Prepare and present modeling results and insights to senior leadership.
