Job summary

Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a Principal Research Scientist (Recommender Systems) to lead large ML projects, advance personalization and search, and guide ML/AI researchers toward scalable solutions for HBO Max. The role partners with product, engineering, content, marketing and research to drive impactful opportunities.

You will mentor teams, shape the ML/AI roadmap, and present modeling results to senior leadership while delivering measurable business value in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of work experience in ML, AI and Data Science with a proven track record to drive innovation and business impacts.
• Strong experience in Recommender systems, personalization systems, collaborative filtering and information retrieval systems.
• Strong machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling expertise (causal inference, ensembles, neural nets, NLP, RL).
• Familiarity with modern large language model techniques for recommender systems and personalization.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and experience with big data platforms (AWS, Snowflake, Spark, Google Cloud).
• Proficiency in ML/DL languages and frameworks (Python, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch).
• Experience deploying ML algorithms and leading fast-paced projects.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative data science solutions using ML and DL to support product, engineering and marketing initiatives.
• Mentor and lead ML/AI researchers and engineers, introducing new technologies and processes.
• Design and develop scalable ML systems with ML engineering leadership to accelerate learning cycles.
• Identify data science opportunities that deliver business value and drive the ML/AI roadmap.
• Formulate ML/AI roadmap areas and communicate results to stakeholders and leadership.
