Job summary

American Rail Engineers Corporation (ARE) is seeking an Engineer V to lead multidisciplinary bridge design teams. You will guide projects from planning through construction, serving as a trusted technical resource on railroad bridge design challenges and client relations across North America.

The role requires extensive railroad bridge experience, strong project management, and a commitment to technical excellence and collaboration. Travel up to 15% nationwide is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
• 8-10 years of relevant engineering experience, including significant experience with bridge design and rehabilitation, preferably railroad bridges.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one state; multi-state licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead engineer on complex railroad bridge projects, including steel structures, major replacements, and emergency repairs.
• Lead multidisciplinary design teams through alternatives analysis, design, and construction support.
• Establish design criteria and technical approaches for assigned projects.
• Respond to emergency events with rapid assessment and repair recommendations.
• Prepare proposals, scopes, and fee estimates; build client relationships.
