Job summary

American Rail Engineers Corporation (ARE) seeks a detail-oriented CAD Design Engineer to lead ARE’s CAD systems and support railroad bridge, culvert, track, and infrastructure projects. The role includes training engineers and staff, maintaining standards, and ensuring drawings meet ARE and client requirements.

You will collaborate with licensed engineers, coordinate diverse project information, and contribute to the design and development of railroad infrastructure under supervision.

Qualifications

• Degree or technical certificate in Civil Engineering or CAD-related field.
• Experience producing civil/structural/infrastructure drawings.
• Ability to train and mentor staff in CAD workflows.
• Strong understanding of CAD standards, templates, and document control.
• Ability to read engineering plans, surveys, and calculations.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and administration of ARE's CAD systems, standards, and QA/QC processes.
• Review client and railroad CAD requirements and incorporate into workflows.
• Standardize CAD production practices and document control.
• Provide training materials and guidance to engineers, EITs, technicians, and interns.
• Assist with drawing production, permitting, bidding, and construction documentation.
