Job summary

Siemens Mobility is seeking a Group Lead Weld on the 2nd shift to guide the Locomotive Welding team in Sacramento. You will champion lean practices to improve safety, budget, and schedule adherence across production and planning, while solving complex welding challenges.

You will supervise a diverse crew, perform hands-on welding per AWS D1.1/D1.6, and assist with new product launches while ensuring on-time delivery and high-quality output.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience leading a diverse production team.
• Hands-on problem solving with countermeasure implementation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with rail industry or related sectors and familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of welders by assigning work and providing training.
• Monitor safety, quality, and productivity; conduct quality checks and enforce best practices.
• Coordinate production activities with supervisors and fellow Group Leaders to meet schedules and commitments.
• Support new product introductions, mock-ups, prototype builds, and first production runs.
• Perform hands-on welding and fabrication to AWS D1.1 and D1.6 standards while meeting targets.
