Job summary

The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is seeking a Transportation Supervising Engineer (Engineering) Rail Design in Newington, CT. This full-time role leads the Rail Signal and Communications and Traction Power/OCS sections with a strong emphasis on leadership and project delivery.

This position offers a hybrid work environment and opportunities to guide major rail infrastructure projects across multiple lines, ensuring safety, reliability, and on-time completion.

Qualifications

• Eight (8) years of transportation engineering experience.
• One (1) year of lead responsibility for complex transportation engineering projects.
• Note: PE licensure preferred or required as per state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise engineers, technicians, and staff in railroad-related sections.
• Act as Project Manager for multiple rail projects including electrification, signaling, and traction power.
• Coordinate design elements with construction teams to ensure timely delivery.
• Prepare reports, cost estimates, standards, and fee schedules for consultants and contractors.
• Review plans and specifications for complex railroad engineering problems.
