Job summary

Leidos Defense is seeking a System Architect to lead the Mobile LBS radar program through proposal, design, and production phases. You will act as the technical authority across engineering disciplines, ensuring design integrity and performance within cost and schedule targets.

You will oversee multi‑phase development, coordinate with SMEs, and guide subsystems toward maturity while mentoring engineers in a fast‑paced environment. Relocation to Huntsville, AL is expected for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (ABET‑accredited).
• 12+ years of applicable experience or 10+ years with MS degree.
• Experience leading a team of engineers to develop solutions that meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
• Excellent technical judgment and ability to communicate complex issues to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Experience with formal design review processes (PDR/CDR), configuration management, and risk management practices.
• Strong desire to lead, guide, and mentor.
• Active secret security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain secret clearance.
• Resident of Huntsville, AL area or willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical team to design, manufacture, and deliver a radar system that conforms to requirements.
• Navigate software, signal processing, mechanical, and electrical engineering issues with SME support.
• Provide technical oversight and management of the technical baseline.
• Balance technical solutions with cost and schedule constraints.
• Serve as technical lead for engineering execution, system performance, and lifecycle requirements.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities to senior leadership and government stakeholders.
• Provide direction to subsystem leads and discipline teams for maturity, integration, and risk mitigation.
• Mentor and develop technical staff to foster innovation and rigorous engineering.
