Job summary

GE Vernova seeks a senior software engineer to design and deliver power system control software for smart grid applications. You will work across architecture, modelling, testing, and embedded automation to improve grid resilience.

The role requires Matlab/Simulink expertise, Linux/Windows experience, and Agile methods; you’ll lead technical efforts, collaborate with customers, and contribute to Grid Solutions innovation labs while supporting project delivery and pipeline development.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest and passion for solving complex power system problems.
• Degree in renewable energies, electrical engineering, computer science, or similar field from an accredited university.
• Experience developing power systems automation and protection in Linux and Windows using Agile processes.
• Proven experience in R&D solutions related to technology development in power systems, automation, protection and control.
• Demonstrated track record of influencing stakeholders through the R&D process to achieve customer outcomes.
• Pragmatic approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Develop technology on power system control and management solutions for smart grid applications.
• Model systems using Matlab, Simulink, Opal-RT to create and test applications; design and validate algorithms.
• Design test environments and support V&V activities for validation.
• Develop application function blocks for embedded automation, monitoring, analytics, forecasting, management, and protection systems.
• Lead as project technical leader or Scrum Master where needed.
• Support business development and project pipeline through system design and verification.
