Job summary

Corning Inc. in Keller, Texas, seeks a hands‑on Supervisory for the R&D Mechanical Prototype Lab to lead technicians developing fiber optic enclosures and related hardware.

You will oversee lab operations, drive performance, and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality prototypes for product development, NPI, and customer samples, with cross‑functional exposure across engineering and product teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline is required.
• Hands‑on mechanical aptitude and fabrication/troubleshooting experience are necessary.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of lab technicians, set clear expectations, manage workload, and coach for growth.
• Manage prototype request log, balance product development and commercial priorities to meet milestones.
• Provide hands‑on support for fabrication, assembly, troubleshooting, rework, and modifications; ensure builds meet drawings and specs.
• Maintain a safe, organized lab with 5S, visual management, standard work; coordinate equipment maintenance and calibration.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to align priorities and report KPIs for prototype turnaround and lab efficiency.
