Job summary

Yahoo Sports is seeking a Lead Quality Engineer to architect scalable test automation across web, mobile, and APIs. You will drive AI-assisted testing pipelines and observability, collaborating with software engineers, architects, and product managers to embed quality early in the SDLC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical discipline.
• 7+ years of professional experience in Quality Engineering or SDET roles with architectural leadership.
• Hands-on proficiency with AI-assisted software development and testing tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, LLM-assisted script generation).
• Deep expertise in modern test automation frameworks: Playwright, Appium, Cypress, Selenium, or similar.
• Strong testing across mobile apps, consumer web apps, REST/GraphQL APIs, and microservices.
• Programming in Python, TypeScript, Java, or scripting languages; experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Experience in metrics, performance testing, and observability tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, Splunk).

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks across Web, mobile, API, and cloud services.
• Develop AI-driven test pipelines to auto-generate test cases and data.
• Create AI-assisted diagnostics to analyze failures and detect flaky tests.
• Integrate comprehensive testing into CI/CD pipelines with deterministic quality gates.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and PMs to improve testability and quality.
• Drive defect triage and observability automation to map coverage and trends.
• Establish enterprise-quality standards and mentor senior QEs.
