Job summary

EPAM Systems, Inc. is seeking a Lead Python Developer to strengthen our backend with scalable microservices and AI-enabled APIs. You will guide a talented engineering team while shaping architecture and implementing robust RAG workflows and LLM integrations.

You will collaborate with frontend, data, and infrastructure teams to deliver cohesive, secure, and observable systems across cloud-native environments, leveraging LangChain and related tools.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in backend engineering with microservices and distributed systems design.
• Experience guiding and managing engineering teams.
• Strong Python skills for building high-performance backend infrastructure and cloud-native APIs.
• Hands-on AI-enabled development with GenAI tech.
• Familiarity with LangChain for LLM-driven applications.

Responsibilities

• Shape backend API architecture and orchestration systems for LLM connectivity.
• Build and sustain Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) processes including document handling and embedding production.
• Develop and link agent-based tools using LangChain/LangGraph with MCP where applicable.
• Maintain security, data privacy, observability, and testing across backend functions.
• Coordinate with frontend, data engineering, and infra teams to deliver integrated solutions.
