Job summary

MasTec, Inc. is seeking an Inspection/Commissioning Technician to perform mechanical and electrical inspections on utility PV powerplants. You will document inspections, observations, and test results and assist with PV system troubleshooting.

Responsibilities include testing PV plants to specifications, completing commissioning documentation, and leading field tasks with a focus on safety and quality. LOTO duties and coordination with CM/GF are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Classroom education or training in photovoltaic systems preferred.
• Photovoltaic installation experience.
• Three years of electrical experience in the Industrial sector or two years as MasTec Commissioning Tech I.
• OSHA 10-hour, First Aid/CPR, NFPA 70E certifications preferred.
• Ability to take lead in commissioning tasks with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the inspection and testing of PV plants to specifications and contract documents.
• Complete all commissioning documentation during inspection.
• Document all outstanding issues and deliver all documentation for review by the General Foreman and Commissioning Manager.
• Perform LOTO duties as outlined by the company and site-specific policies.
• Perform field test data entry as needed.
• Perform final visual and mechanical inspections on equipment before energization date.
• Support third party testing and inspections (Transformers, MV audits, MV cable tests, etc.).
• Ensure proper use of PPE and conformity to safety procedures by all employees.
• Keep testing equipment clean and ensure calibration is up to date.
• Report missing or broken tools to CM/GF and inform CM/GF when consumables are low.
• Care for and maintain all issued PPE.
• Work with and lead other Techs to ensure quality and safety compliance.
• Other duties as assigned
