Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Clinical Exercise Physiologist to manage patient intake scheduling, orientation, assessment, and treatment plan development. The role acts as a case manager, ensuring timely progress reporting and effective communication with clinical staff.

Strong assessment, testing, and education skills are essential. Responsibilities include exercise prescription, plan implementation, documentation, and ongoing adjustments to plans based on patient needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology or related field required.
• Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology preferred.
• Certification through ACSM or AACVPR required within 3 years if no Master's; current BLS; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patient assessment and monitoring including biometrics, EKG, history review, and medication reconciliation.
• Perform exercise testing: submaximal tests, tolerance measures, strength, endurance, flexibility.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and monitor progress.
• Modify treatment plans as patient needs change and communicate with the care team.
• Lead exercise sessions, ensure proper technique and safety, and educate patients.
• Facilitate education sessions and support behavior change using motivational interviewing.
• Document clinical status and response to exercise in medical records; report progress to providers.
• Maintain infection control and safe environment; address equipment or environmental issues.
• Coordinate scheduling and referrals for first appointments and ongoing care.
