Job summary

Blattner leads with a Lead Engineer - Protection & Controls in the Major Projects Group to act as SME for protection and controls design across solar, wind, and energy storage projects. A typical day involves relay settings reviews, coordination studies, and mentoring junior engineers to ensure safe and reliable designs.

You will collaborate with utilities, vendors, and internal teams, developing standards and ensuring NERC PRC compliance. Willingness to travel up to 25% is required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive engineering experience in protection and controls design for high‑voltage systems.
• Experience with relay settings development and coordination studies.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET‑accredited college.

Responsibilities

• Develops or reviews protective relay settings and coordination studies for utility‑scale projects.
• Designs protection schemes for generators, transformers, and interconnections.
• Mentors junior engineers and supports design standards.
• Coordinates protection/SCADA integration with IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus.
