Job summary

Telex LLC in the United States is seeking a Lead Protection and Control Technician (Remote) to own commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting protective relaying across generation, transmission, and distribution substations.

The role requires hands-on expertise with relay testing tools (Omicron, Doble, RTS) and strong leadership to mentor junior technicians while ensuring safety and quality on field deployments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years field experience in relay testing and substation commissioning.
• Expertise in three-phase power systems and protection schemes.
• Proficient with Omicron, Doble, Vanguard and related test equipment.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning, installation, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment.
• Perform advanced end-to-end relay testing using Doble Protection Suite, Omicron Test Universe, and RTS.
• Execute functional and scheme testing: reclosing, breaker failure, advanced logic.
• Troubleshoot and optimize protocols including DNP3, Modbus, 8979.
• Develop and refine standardized commissioning and testing procedures.
• Mentor junior technicians and oversee field execution for safety and quality.
• Partner with clients, vendors, and engineering teams to deliver reliability.
