Job summary

Telex LLC is seeking a Lead Protection and Control Technician (Remote) to own commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting protective relaying schemes across generation, transmission, and distribution substations. You'll lead field projects, mentor junior technicians, and collaborate with utilities, vendors, and engineering teams to deliver reliable power systems with safety and quality at the forefront.

Qualifications

• 5+ years field experience in relay testing and substation commissioning.
• Expertise in three-phase power systems and protection schemes.
• Experience with SCADA integration.
• Proficient with Omicron, Doble, and Vanguard test equipment.
• Strong leadership, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning, installation, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment and SCADA systems.
• Perform advanced end-to-end relay testing using Doble Protection Suite and Omicron.
• Conduct functional and scheme testing including reclosing and breaker failure.
• Troubleshoot protocols like DNP3 and Modbus; use Wireshark and related tools.
• Develop standardized commissioning and testing procedures.
• Mentor junior technicians and oversee field execution for safety and quality.
• Collaborate with clients, vendors, and engineering teams to ensure reliability.
