The candidate will prepare and present cases in court, negotiate plea agreements, supervise witnesses, and train junior attorneys while maintaining thorough records and meeting court deadlines.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school.
• One year of experience practicing law.
• Requires a current license to practice law in Texas.
• Experience as lead prosecutor for misdemeanors or civil litigation/appeals experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate criminal complaints and determine charges for prosecution.
• Review cases, perform legal research, interview witnesses, and gather evidence.
• Draft and file motions, briefs, or other court documents for trials/hearings.
• Explain legal process to witnesses and prepare them for testimony.
• Gather, present evidence and related material for trials/hearings; guide witnesses.
• Represent the State or clients in hearings and trials with jury selection, opening statements, examinations, and closing arguments.
• Negotiate settlements or plea bargains and obtain approval of terms.
• Prepare settlements or plea documents and ensure proper filing and signatures.
• May manage court dockets/case schedules and coordinate deadlines.
• Train or assist in training Attorneys I and II.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
