Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school and one year of experience practicing law.

• Experience as a lead prosecutor for misdemeanors or experience with civil litigation or appellate work on direct appeals.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate criminal complaints and decide on prosecution; determine charges and prepare indictments.
• Review cases through documentation, research, witness interviews, and evidence gathering.
• Draft, file, and respond to motions, briefs, and other legal documents for trials or hearings.
• Explain legal processes to witnesses and prepare them for court testimony; keep clients informed.
• Present evidence and conduct trials including jury selection, direct and cross-examinations, and closing arguments.
• Negotiate settlements or pleas and secure approvals; prepare and file documents as needed.
• Manage court dockets and case schedules to meet deadlines and maintain records; assist training of junior attorneys.
