Job summary

Boom Supersonic is seeking a Lead Propulsion Engineer, Mechanical Design to shape the Symphony turbofan and related propulsion systems. You will join a small, high-performance turbomachinery team building a next‑gen engine company from the ground up.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in mechanical/aerospace, expert CAD (3DX/Catia/NX), GD&T mastery, and strong leadership to drive cross‑discipline integration and fast decision‑making in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 15+ years of professional experience.
  • Expert CAD with 3DX, CATIA or NX.
  • Familiarity with GD&T in gas turbine production.
  • Leadership in turbomachinery module design.
  • Ability to communicate engine–aircraft interactions clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Own mechanical design features for all engine dynamics and loads.
  • Develop sound design solutions to accelerate Symphony in air.
  • Interpret and review tolerances on part drawings.
  • Create layouts and models of modules and engines.
  • Contribute to full engine models including structures and thermal management.
  • Lead cross-discipline design requirements and integration.
  • Be technical owner for engine mechanical aspects and assemblies.
  • Plan assembly/disassembly for development and production.
  • Engage broadly in Symphony development and propulsion integration.
