Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Huntsville, AL, seeks a Lead Project Engineer to set up and ramp up new manufacturing lines for defense programs. The candidate will lead cross‑functional teams, oversee process design, and ensure quality and manufacturability from the ground up.

Responsibilities include real-time optimization, RCCA leadership, and collaboration with engineering, quality, and program managers. A US Secret clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 9+ years in project engineering or 7+ years with graduate degree; or 13+ years without degree.
• Experience setting up, launching, or scaling new manufacturing lines or facilities.
• Proficient in CAD, GD&T, analysis, or materials.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical leader in setup, launch, and optimization of new manufacturing lines, including equipment selection and workflow design.
• Determine approaches to objectives under general direction using engineering principles.
• Real-time WIP NC prioritization and coordination for repair, scrap and function.
• Drive process optimization and yield improvements to minimize waste and optimize resources.
• Provide RCCA and corrective actions in collaboration with Quality.
• Assist in designing and testing new equipment, processes, and systems with scalability in mind.
• Work on site in Huntsville supporting critical production programs.
• Maintain knowledge of design and manufacturing aspects of programs.
• Assess non-conformances to determine immediate actions to keep production moving.
• Represent Engineering Responsible Authority in RCCA and design dispositions.
