This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Lead Project Controls Specialist (Cost Engineer & Controls) to join our Project Controls team in Newark, New Jersey. This role has the option to work hybrid (3 days onsite) or full time onsite.

Your Impact

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with team members to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
2. Work with project team members to develop the project cost breakdown structure and baseline budget.
3. Monitor actual project costs and track potential changes to forecasted budgets.
4. Establish methods to measure project progress and utilize project performance data to assess cost performance.
5. Review invoices to verify accuracy, documentation and compliance with contract and project requirements.
6. Manage project controls data using designated applications or tools.
7. Develop project controls dashboards.
8. Prepare cost reports or presentations.
9. Perform a variety of tasks related to progress reporting, including proofreading for consistency and accuracy in reporting.
10. Complete routine, frequent deadlines for a variety of project reports. Collaborate with project team to collect information and provide finished reports in a timely manner.
11. Maintain accurate records and documentation with respect to contract compliance.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, data, business, or a related field.
2. 7+ years of experience in construction project cost management and project controls.
3. Experience with airport, transportation, or transit projects.
4. Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, and problem-solving skills.
5. Proficiency in cost management software, project management tools, Power BI and relevant industry standards.
6. Understanding of financial principles and budgeting practices.
7. Familiarity with project scheduling preferred.
8. Confident self-starter with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment.
9. Attention to detail and organization while working in a fast-paced environment.
10. Skilled at building and sustaining relationships with all stakeholders.
