Job summary

Project Architect – Albany, NY Area is sought by a confidential, established multidisciplinary architecture and engineering firm in a northern suburb of Albany. This role offers ownership across the full project lifecycle, coordination with multiple engineering disciplines, and leadership development.

The ideal candidate is a Registered Architect or an architect progressing toward registration, with 5–10+ years of broad experience across municipal and federal projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
• 5–10+ years of relevant architectural experience.
• Registered Architect strongly preferred; licensure in progress encouraged.
• Active pursuit of architectural registration exams for non-licensed candidates.
• Broad, practical experience across multiple architectural project phases.
• Experience with existing-building assessments and feasibility studies.
• Understanding of New York State building codes and regulations.
• Experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects and deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary design teams.
• Interest in growing into project management, ownership, and mentoring responsibilities.
• U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural projects from initial programming through design and construction.
• Prepare architectural assessments, facility studies, feasibility studies, and programming reports.
• Evaluate existing buildings and document architectural conditions and recommendations.
• Perform building code reviews for new and existing facilities.
• Develop architectural drawings, details, and construction documents.
• Work in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Coordinate with structural, engineering, drafting, and specialty consultants.
• Serve as lead architect on multidisciplinary assignments as needed.
• Contribute to project planning, coordination, and management.
• Communicate effectively with project team members, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Mentor less-experienced team members and guide project growth.
• Maintain hands-on technical involvement while increasing project ownership.
• Prepare clear, professional technical reports and written documentation.
