Job summary

Beyer Blinder Belle in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Project Architect to lead architectural and engineering teams through design phases, with a focus on a complex existing-building residential project.

You will collaborate with project managers, consultants, and clients, guide documentation, BIM coordination (Revit), and ensure quality and regulatory compliance across renovation, zoning, and permit packages.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional architectural experience, including leadership as a Project Architect.
• At least five years on multifamily residential projects.
• Experience with renovation/rehabilitation/adaptive reuse of existing residential buildings.
• Experience across Construction Documents and Construction Administration.
• Registered Architect; sustainability accreditation preferred.
• Knowledge of DC codes, zoning, and permitting preferred.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage consultants.
• Strong QA/QC, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead document production and coordination across all design phases.
• Develop comprehensive contract documents with drawings, specs, details.
• Evaluate existing conditions and integrate field observations.
• Coordinate internal teams and external consultants.
• Lead coordination meetings and monitor progress.
• Guide staffing, planning, workflows.
• Communicate concepts clearly to clients and project teams.
• Direct development of zoning, permit, and regulatory packages.
• Support BIM coordination and RFI responses.
• Provide mentorship to junior staff.
