Job summary

Alameda Health System seeks a Coding Supervisor to back up the coding manager and oversee daily coding operations. You will train staff, perform quality reviews, and ensure accurate coding for reimbursement.

Stay current with ICD-10-CM and CPT changes and collaborate with related departments to maintain compliance and efficiency. The role requires a BS/AS in a health-related field, 5 years of healthcare coding experience, and CCS/CCS-P/CPC credentials, with RHIA/RHIT preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate or Bachelor of Science in business, healthcare, or related field.
• Experience: Five years coding experience in a healthcare environment, including chart audit, professional fee coding, charge capture, or billing.
• Licenses/Certifications: CCS, CCS-P or CPC.
• Preferred Licenses/Certifications: RHIA or RHIT.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with physicians and health care professionals to clarify documentation for code assignment.
• Monitors updates to ICD-10-CM and CPT; updates code assignments as required.
• Performs standard supervisory tasks: task assignment, conflict resolution, resource allocation.
• Supervises coding staff daily, including outsourced vendor coders.
• Performs quality reviews to validate codes and reimbursements.
• assists Coding Manager and attends professional meetings as needed.
• Trains coding staff as needed.
• Collaborates with Patient Access, Patient Financial Services, Revenue Integrity, and Quality departments to ensure accuracy and efficiency in coding and reimbursement.
• Organizes and prioritizes work to ensure records are coded timely for regulatory compliance.
