Job summary

Clark-Reliance is seeking a Lead Production Technician to coordinate workflow and safety in the production cell. The role requires three years in manufacturing and strong ownership of work centers. Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and MS Office is essential, with emphasis on quality and teamwork.

The position is first shift (7am-3:30pm) and involves leading a team, ensuring timely output, and maintaining ISO-aligned quality and safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Three years related experience in manufacturing/production environment required.
  • Able to read, write and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
  • Must be computer literate in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Work with limited supervision and take ownership of the work centers.

What is a Lead Production Technician?

The Lead Production Technician will act as the point person under the Supervisor to coordinate workflow, efficiency and safety of the production cell. Perform routine activities involved in the storing, stocking and handling of materials and may include painting or deburring as well as performing a variety of mechanical or electrical assembly and test operations on the assigned product lines. This is a first shift position with hours from 7am-3:30pm.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have at least three years related experience in a manufacturing/production environment and be able to take ownership of work centers. Must be computer literate in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office. Must be organized, a team player and committed to quality systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Lead the designated team, ensuring individual and group productivity.
  2. Provide leadership to assigned cell with respect to quality, cost, production and compliance.
  3. Monitor team's production flow, while making sure output meets deadlines and within quality and safety parameters.
  4. Assist with coordinating workflow between departments.
  5. Participate in cell activities to meet identified goals.
  6. Assist cell members in solving problems and improving performance.
  7. Identify and reports personnel issues to shift supervisor.
  8. Train new employees and coach existing employees.
  9. Ensure that company methods and policies are followed.
  10. Work hand-in-hand with Supervisor to:
    • a. Communicate relevant and timely information and expectations.
    • b. Enables effective communications between the team and the supervisor.
    • c. Interview and assess new-hire candidates.
    • d. Document training.
    • e. Create/review/update work instructions, job descriptions and TPTPs as needed, but no less than annually.
    • f. Review and input wording for 30- and 90-day and annual performance reviews, corrective action notices, etc.
    • g. Interface with other functions such as quality control, engineering and production planners, etc.
  11. Effectively assemble and test the variety of products for qualified area.
  12. Inspect, test and/or evaluate all parts manufactured in the specific assembly area and to perform quality related analysis.
  13. Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of materials and inventory.
  14. Ensure that products and systems are shipped with appropriate packing, documentation and delivery requirements.
  15. Perform routine preventative maintenance as required to maintain equipment in top operational order.
  16. Visually inspect product to insure it has not been damaged or deteriorated during handling, storage, packaging or shipping.
  17. May track inventory or prepare other documentation on a computer.
  18. Effectively perform material handling activities such as crating, packing, shipping, receiving, picking, lifting, moving and using materials handling equipment when necessary. (such as: lift trucks, tow motors, cranes, high lifts, etc.)
  19. Utilize small and large tools, hoists, dollies, and other devices when necessary.
  20. Comply and enforce all safety procedures in each area assigned, including but not limited to, wearing protective clothing, special handling of chemicals, special handling of product, safety/rescue equipment usage, etc.
  21. Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.
  22. Comply and enforce policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
  23. Maintain and enforce quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
  24. Maintain and enforce work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
  25. Comply and enforce punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
  26. Perform all other job duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Education
  • Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
  • Three years related experience in manufacturing/production environment required.
  • Ability to assemble assigned product lines.
  • Computer literate in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office required.
  • Work with limited supervision and take ownership of the work centers.
  • Must be organized, a team player and committed to quality systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities at a time, self-motivated and pro-active.
  • Ability to handle non-routine projects and tasks independently within established standards.
  • Ability to read simple blueprints and technical specifications.
Physical and Technical Environment
  • Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds, using proper lifting techniques or other available resources such as lifting or moving equipment or help from another employee.
  • Regularly required to walk or stand, bend or twist, climb, reach with hands or arms.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, heat and cold on a regular basis.
  • Exposure to machine and tool hazards requiring care and attention to safety rules and standards.
  • Clean and orderly manufacturing environment, some exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards.
  • Must respond to changing requirements and working conditions.
  • Overtime required at periodic intervals to respond to project deadlines.
