Job summary

The Marzetti Company, a maker of well-known dressings, breads and sauces, seeks a production supervisor to lead processing, packaging and material handling on a designated shift. You’ll direct a team, manage scheduling, control labor costs and enforce quality and safety standards in a busy plant environment.

Responsibilities include budgeting, coordinating with other departments, training staff, ensuring timely reporting, and maintaining GMP/compliance with 5S, OSHA and HACCP programs.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years production/group leader experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of scheduling and production processes.
• BS/BA degree in a related field desirable.

Responsibilities

• Directs the shift’s processing, packaging and material handling activities through supervision of employees to ensure production objectives are met.
• Reviews budgets for the production area.
• Maintains control over manpower and labor costs through scheduling and utilization of personnel.
• Maintains shift performance for scheduling, production, quality and safety standards.
• Controls overtime labor costs, maintenance/repair costs, downtime and product re-work.
• Ensures compliance to laws and company policies.
• Ensures all production reporting is timely and accurate.
• Provides training, direction, development, evaluation and leadership to employees.
• Coordinates with other department managers to ensure proper material handling, maintenance, inventory control and QA activities.
• Maintains cleanliness, productivity, and maintenance in processing areas.
• Ensures conformity to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA and HACCP programs.
