Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle is seeking a detail-focused Materials/Production Controller to own kitting for machine builds, manage inventory, and drive procurement for complex aerospace hardware. You will partner with engineers, technicians, and suppliers to keep production on schedule and ensure accuracy across BOMs and ERP records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5+ years in production control, material planning, inventory control, kitting, or related supply chain in manufacturing.
• Hands-on ERP/MRP experience for inventory transactions and work-order management.
• Ability to read and interpret BOMs, engineering drawings, and part numbers.
• Experience performing cycle counts and resolving inventory discrepancies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for tracking and reporting.
• Ability to communicate clearly with engineers, technicians, and suppliers.
• U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible status.

Responsibilities

• Own kitting for machine builds, maintenance, and retrofit work; ensure complete kits for technicians.
• Perform kit shortage analysis before work-order release and resolve shortages.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts and physical inventory.
• Receive, inspect, label, and store incoming material; manage returns and discrepancies.
• Track spare parts inventory, set min/max levels and reorders for critical items.
• Generate and manage purchase requisitions; track through PO, shipment, and receipt.
• Expedite critical material and communicate revised dates to engineers/technicians.
• Interface with buyers, planners, suppliers to resolve pricing, lead-time, and quality issues.
• Maintain BOMs against engineering releases and flag material impacts from changes.
• Track material against machine serial numbers and configurations.
• Manage material for retrofit/upgrade campaigns with staged kits.
• Maintain transaction records in ERP/work-order systems and investigate variances.
• Support control of consumables and shelf-life items.
• Produce material status reporting to engineering and program leadership.
• Identify process improvements to reduce shortages and improve flow.
• Operate material handling equipment safely; mentor junior staff.
