Job summary

Stored Energy Systems in Longmont, CO seeks a production development engineer to improve manufacturing efficiency, setup, and testing. You will work with design, production, safety, and quality to implement new technologies and ensure defect-free production.

You will lead line improvements, equipment setup for new products, and development of build instructions while mentoring operators and validating processes against quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering (or 4 years relevant experience).
• 7+ years manufacturing engineering, production tech support, or NPI in manufacturing.
• Experience with manufacturing automation, vision systems, smart tooling, robotics, or Industry 4.0 technologies.
• Experience with test equipment (voltmeters, data acquisition, oscilloscopes, load banks).
• Experience with software programming and reading code to locate issues.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, process validation.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead implementation of manufacturing technologies, automation, and digital solutions to modernize production systems.
• Support new product hand-off to Production including line setup and training.
• Lead line 3P and improvement projects: time studies, capacity analysis, line balancing.
• Develop and maintain build and test instructions for correct assembly and testing.
• Troubleshoot and repair test equipment and update settings as needed.
• Develop and implement engineering changes to improve manufacturing (DFM/A) and control costs.
• Implement scalable production processes using lean to meet growth and NPI targets.
• Monitor metrics like capacity, efficiency, uptime, cycle time, and yield.
