Job summary

BrightPlan is seeking a Lead Product Designer to own the design of App 2.0, combining hands-on design with leadership of design systems, processes, and direction. You’ll work with Product, Engineering, and customers to translate strategy into accessible experiences across desktop and mobile, while shaping AI-enabled design workflows.

This is a highly hands-on, IC role with ~80% design activity and ~20% leadership, process development, and cross-functional alignment, based in the United States

Qualifications

• Significant product design experience with shipped work on complex digital products.
• Lead end-to-end product design for major features from concept through implementation.
• Establish, own, or evolve a design system in a component-based environment.
• Strong interaction, visual, information architecture, and prototyping skills; fluent in Figma.
• Apply WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility principles during the design process.
• Experience using AI in product design and scalable AI workflows.
• Demonstrate systems thinking and partnership with Product Mgmt and Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead design for App 2.0 from concept through implementation, including IA, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high‑fidelity UI.
• Translate product requirements into clear, intuitive experiences to boost engagement.
• Design responsive desktop and mobile experiences across form factors.
• Evolve the App 2.0 design system: components, tokens, behaviors, docs, governance.
• Collaborate with Engineering to minimize UX drift and design debt.
• Incorporate accessibility from the start and address findings with the team.
• Define AI-first design practice and develop AI-enabled design workflows.
• Develop AI design agents and workflows to increase capacity while preserving judgment.
• Build a thoughtful stance on AI’s role in the product experience.
• Use data, experiments, and usability feedback to validate direction.
• Engage customers and stakeholders to validate concepts and prototypes.
• Support App 1.0 during the transition to App 2.0 as priorities shift.
