Job summary

Day & Zimmermann Company is seeking a Department Manager, Process & Mechanical to lead the Piping Department of our EPCm team. You will guide piping engineers and designers, align resources, and drive safety, quality, and innovation across complex chemical process projects.

Responsibilities include overseeing staffing, budgets, schedule, and technical outputs, plus mentoring staff and collaborating with clients.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
15+ years of progressive EPCm/chemical process industry experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure mandatory.
Experience with Autodesk Plant 3D is a strong asset.
Caesar II pipe stress analysis knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate departmental resources (manpower, tools, scopes, budget) for efficient project delivery.
Ensure engineering outputs comply with policies, client requirements, codes, and safety standards.
Develop staffing plans to maximize productivity and utilization.
Lead department members through training, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and manage compensation.
Meet discipline-specific cost, schedule, and quality targets on all projects.
Collaborate with senior management to support growth and client satisfaction.
Drive process improvements and safety practices to maintain competitive edge.
