Job summary

Middough Inc. is seeking an Industrial Lead Process Engineer in Downers Grove, IL to collect data, perform calculations, develop specs, and lead complex projects while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with clients.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Engineering, 5–15 years of experience, and knowledge of API/ASME codes, HYSYS/AspenPlus, and process design. Hybrid work model, competitive benefits, and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; chemical preferred.
• 5–15 years of experience performing basic engineering analysis and design functions.
• PE license preferred.
• Experience in pressure relief analysis and flare system design and documentation.
• Process flow drawing (PFD) and P&ID development experience preferred.
• Experience in the design of process equipment (vessels, pumps, exchangers, fired heaters/equipment, compressors) specifications.
• Ability to perform heat exchanger design calculation.
• Working knowledge of API 520/521 and ASME codes.
• Process steady state modeling experience (HYSYS, AspenPlus, etc.).
• Hydraulic modeling experience (AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, etc.) preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and attention to detail abilities.
• Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities for project efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Collect and prepare data, perform detailed engineering calculations, and write formal reports.
• Develop technical specifications and data sheets, perform bid evaluations, and recommend best value design.
• Provide field leadership by checking installations and solving problems.
• Perform calculation checking and vendor drawing reviews.
• Serve as a Project Lead for complex projects including staffing and deliverable reviews.
• Interact with other departments and suppliers to obtain information.
