Middough Inc. seeks a Senior Staff Process Engineer in Downers Grove, IL, to lead complex process design and calculations in the food and beverage sector.

You will collect data, develop design basis, and deliver technical reports, while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with cross-functional teams. Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering required.
• 20+ years of experience performing basic engineering analysis and design functions.
• Experience with process flow drawing (PFD) and P&ID development preferred.
• Experience with process steady state modeling (HYSYS, AspenPlus, etc.) preferred.
• Experience in the design, construction or operation of food/beverage processing facilities (sugar candy, chocolate, dairy, beverages, etc.)
• Thorough knowledge of food safety and sanitary design and knowledge of industry standards, practices, and regulations.
• Development of process design basis and select unit operations, mass and energy balances, hydraulic and thermal calculations.
• Experience with equipment procurement support and bid evaluation.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Participate in business development efforts including meetings and presentations to convey expertise.
• Serve as a Project Lead estimating work hours, developing scope, staffing, and reviewing deliverables.
• Support development of project scope, budget and schedule for process work and coordinate with internal teams.
• Interface with client team counterparts to develop process design on projects of varying complexity.
• Collect and prepare data, perform detailed engineering calculations, and write reports.
• Develop technical specifications and data sheets, evaluate bids, and recommend best-value designs.
• Provide field leadership by checking installations and solving problems.
• Review vendor drawings and perform calculation checks.
• Guide colleagues on food and beverage processing requirements.
• Coach process project team members.
