Job summary

Slate Auto LLC is seeking a Process Engineer of Seats Production to analyze, design, and improve manufacturing processes for efficiency, quality, safety, and cost performance in the USA. You will apply industrial engineering to optimize labor, material flow, equipment utilization, and production systems supporting new programs and capacity expansion.

Qualifications

12+ years related automotive manufacturing experience with Bachelor's degree, 8 years with Master's degree, 5 years with PhD or equivalent experience.
Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ERP systems.
Automotive OEM experience preferred.
Experience with Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Process Design & Optimization: Develop and improve manufacturing processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Conduct time studies and line balancing using lean principles (Kaizen, 5S, SMED).
Layout & Material Flow: Design plant layouts, ergonomics, and material flow; optimize logistics within the plant with kanban and material handling.
Capacity Planning & Resource Management: Analyze production capacity, forecast requirements, and plan manpower, machines, and tooling for programs.
Cost Analysis & Continuous Improvement: Perform cost analysis and drive improvements to reduce waste and boost productivity; monitor KPI.
Quality & Safety Integration: Ensure processes meet quality standards; incorporate ergonomics and safety; support root cause analysis.
New Program Support: Participate in DFM/A reviews; validate process capability; prepare Process FMEA, work instructions, and SOPs.
