Job summary

Allegion seeks a Lead Process Engineer in Blue Ash, OH to lead manufacturing and process improvement initiatives. You will manage complex projects, apply Lean and SPC methodologies, and drive design of experiments to optimize costs and performance.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering and 5+ years of engineering supervision, with strong problem-solving and teamwork skills. You will coordinate with Quality to ensure control plans and PFMEA are in place, and promote continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering and direct supervision.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services is a plus.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; structured problem solving (A3, 9-step, 8-D).
  • Experience in quality, process control and manufacturing standards.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and analyzes proposals and determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures.
  • Determines engineering feasibility and cost effectiveness.
  • Acts as a project manager on complex projects initiating, planning scheduling and coordinating the overall project and design.
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control, Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause Analysis, Design of Experiments.
  • Approves and submits to management proposals considered feasible for consideration and participates in capital planning process to establish manufacturing/process priorities.
  • Evaluates product, equipment-related components and vendors.
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects including records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences.
  • Establishes manufacturing standards and practices in Continuous process improvement, preventive maintenance.
  • Leadership skills to manage teams to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in structured problem solving and quality tools.
  • In conjunction with Quality personnel, responsible for quality control throughout assigned process including training and containment.

What You Will Do:

  • Solid analytical skills necessary to reach sound conclusions. Proficiency in structured problem solving approach, including but not limited to A3, 9-step, & 8-D
  • In conjunction with Quality personnel, is responsible for quality control throughout assigned process. Including training, evaluation methods, containment and problem solving.
  • Ensures process control through use of Advanced Product Quality Planning Concepts (Key Characteristics, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Quality/Process checklists).
  • Develops, establishes and owns necessary process control documentation.
  • Ensures that proper safety and preventive maintenance procedures are established and maintained.
  • Attend training opportunities deemed necessary by management.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering and direct supervision
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Strong critical thinking skills including using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Strong problem-solving skills in order to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and in independent situations, and exercise good judgment to reach sound conclusions
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, schedules, rules, procedures, etc.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and perform from various documents, including method sheets, assembly drawings, production reports, safety rules, blueprints, printed shop schedules, Kanban cards/boards, operating maintenance instruction and procedure manuals, etc.
  • Ability to properly identify components and gain extensive parts knowledge
