Job summary

Allegion is hiring a Process Engineer in Princeton, IL to lead lean transformation in core manufacturing areas. You will drive continuous improvements, implement process controls, and manage capital equipment projects, while coordinating with Purchasing and Quality Assurance.

The role requires a Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing engineering degree, strong problem-solving skills, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Creo with MS Office. Teamwork and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing and solving complex problems.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Creo, MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement Lean Manufacturing tools & techniques (workshops, Kanban, visual management, 5S, TPM, setup reduction).
  • Use formal problem‑solving to identify and resolve complex problems.
  • Initiate and manage productivity and cost savings projects.
  • Implement and maintain process controls through FMEA and other quality tools.
  • Research, evaluate, justify, and recommend capital equipment for operations.
  • Prepare capital expenditure requisitions and manage equipment projects.
  • Stay current with state‑of‑the‑art technologies and equipment.
  • Develop strategic manufacturing processes and assist with capital planning.
  • Prepare and coordinate major project implementation schedules.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation (routings, work instructions, etc.).
  • Analyze engineering changes for manufacturing impact and feasibility.
  • Assist in ISO 9001 procedures for Process Engineering.
  • Assist Purchasing and QA in supplier qualification.
  • Attend training opportunities.

Process Engineer - Princeton, IL

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, which are to be performed accurately, efficiently, within company safety and quality standards, and within requiredtime framesas needed. At our Allegion location in Princeton, IL, our Process Engineer will lead,manageand drive continuousimprovements within assigned core process areas of our manufacturing operations.In addition, the primary responsibilities for this position include:

  • Lead and implement Lean Manufacturing tools & techniques (workshops,Kanban,visual management,5S, total productive maintenance, set-up reduction, etc.)

  • Use formal problem-solving techniques toidentifyand resolve complex problems.

  • Initiate and manage productivity and cost savings projects.

  • Implement andmaintainprocess controls through advanced quality planning techniques (FMEA, key characteristics management, mistake proofing, etc.).

  • Research, evaluate, justify, and recommend capital equipment for operations.

  • Prepare capital expenditure requisitions and manage the implementation of capital equipment projects.

  • Stay current with state-of-the art technologies and equipment.

  • Participate in developing strategic manufacturing processes. Alsoassistin developingthe shortand long-range capital planning.

  • Prepare and coordinate the implementation schedule for major projects and process changes.

  • Develop andmaintainall process documentation (ie. routings, standard work, work instructions, setup sheets,etc.)to ensure accuracy.

  • Analyze proposed engineering changes for manufacturing impact and feasibility.

  • Participate in developing andmaintainingISO 9001 procedures and documents for theProcessengineering departmentasrequired.

  • AssistPurchasing andQuality Assurance in qualifying suppliers for new product or product changes

  • Attend training opportunitiesdeemednecessary by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering(Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing)

  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing and solving complex problems

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Creo, MS Office Suite (excel, word, power point).

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships

  • Solid written and verbal communication as well as conflict resolution skills.

  • Organized with a strong sense of urgency.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and in independent situations, and exercise good judgment to reach sound conclusions

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, schedules, rules, procedures, etc.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and perform from various documents, including method sheets, assembly drawings, production reports, safety rules, blueprints, printed shop schedules, Kanban cards/boards, operating maintenance instructionand procedure manuals, etc.

  • Ability to properly identify components and gain extensive parts knowledge

  • Thorough understanding of GD&T

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity; ability to use fingers and hands to feel, handle, or squeeze; reach with hands and arms; twist/turn body; perform repetitive motions

  • Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit, frequently and for extended periods of time

  • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl

COMPENSATION

  • This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.
  • The expected Salary Range $75,000-$95,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
  • Bonus Eligible: Yes

Ability to frequently lift up to 5 pounds, occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, and rarely lift up to 60 pounds. Any lifts over 35 pounds should be done with assistance.
