Job summary

Amgen in South San Francisco seeks a Principal Scientist, Inflammation to lead discovery and translational biology for an immune-targeting platform aimed at selective modulation of pathogenic immune cells in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

You will develop in vitro and ex vivo assays, design in vivo studies in mouse models, and build translational capabilities including biomarker development to support candidate advancement. Strong collaboration across teams is essential.

Qualifications

• PhD/MD/PharmD with post-doc and 2+ years in drug discovery, or Masters with 5 years, or Bachelors with 7 years.
• Deep expertise in lymphocyte biology and immune effector mechanisms.
• Excellent written and oral communication; strong cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead in vitro and ex vivo strategy for a next-gen immune platform.
• Design in vivo studies evaluating lymphocyte-mediated target cell depletion and immune pharmacology.
• Develop and optimize in vitro and ex vivo functional immune-cell assays and readouts.
• Build translational biology capabilities including immune cell profiling and biomarker development.
• Collaborate with discovery biology, protein engineering, delivery sciences, and translational safety.
