Job summary

BlueCore Energy in Long Beach, CA seeks a Lead PRA Engineer to build the probabilistic safety case for a 45 MWt floating PWR. You will own the PRA from the ground up and work with NRC reviewers to shape licensing for a new class of maritime nuclear plants.

You will collaborate with naval architecture, reactor physics, structural engineering, and maritime safety teams; define initiating events, perform SSC classification, and guide design decisions for current unit and future deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Nuclear Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with full-scope PRA for an NRC-regulated facility.
• Proficient PRA methodology: event/fault trees, SSC classification, defense-in-depth.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of maritime nuclear PRA for NRC submission.
• Own PRA implementation, licensing events, SSC classification.
• Define initiating event frequencies using marine data.
• Engage NRC reviewers in pre-application meetings.
• Collaborate across naval architecture, reactor physics, structural engineering, maritime safety.
• Build foundation for fleet deployment and future design approvals.
