Job summary

Enercon is seeking a PRA Engineering Lead to oversee a team of PRA and risk applications engineers. The role reports to PRA managers and aims to grow the PRA group and deliver risk-informed engineering solutions for clients.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in PRA within the nuclear sector, strong leadership, and fluency with PRA tools and standards. The position may involve remote work in certain U.S. states and requires compliance with background checks and screenings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; PE license preferred.
  • 5+ years PRA experience in the nuclear industry; leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with PRA tasks: initiating events, accident sequences, safety criteria, systems, human reliability, data analysis, quantification, LERF, external events.
  • Experience using PRA models for risk assessments supporting license amendments and risk-informed applications (SFCP, RICT, 10 CFR 50.69, MSPI, SDP).
  • Experience with LWR and non-LWR PRA models; familiarity with industry standards and NRC guides.

Overview

The PRA and Risk-Informed Engineering Group is looking for a PRA Engineering Lead who will report directly to one of the PRA managers. This is an exciting opportunity to oversee the daily activities of a team of PRA and risk applications engineers and work with the PRA leadership team to grow the group and help our clients solve challenging problems. Responsibilities

  • Team & Resource Management: Assist the PRA Manager with supervising group and resource loading. Approve timesheets and expense reports for direct reports. Attend and participate in PRA leadership meetings
  • Project Leadership: Lead/oversee projects and act as the Lead Responsible Engineer (LRE) as needed. Ensure projects are executed within planned scope, budget, and schedule. Provide periodic status updates to PRA management and clients
  • Professional Development & Business Growth: Identify and promote training and industry interaction opportunities (e.g., owner's groups, PRA workshops, industry meetings and conferences, professional society meetings). Support PRA marketing efforts and the development of PRA product lines
  • Communication: Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills; comfortable and effective communicator with team, clients, management, and others, choosing the right mode of communication for the situation and relaying the right message
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited university. PE license is preferred
  • At least 5 years of PRA experience in the nuclear industry. Prior experience in people leadership and project leadership is preferred
  • Experience should include common PRA tasks including initiating events analysis, accident sequence analysis, success criteria, systems analysis, human reliability analysis, data analysis, quantification, LERF analysis, and External Events (e.g., Seismic PRA, High Winds PRA, and other external events)
  • Experience should include using PRA models for risk assessments to support license amendment requests and/or risk-informed applications such as Surveillance Frequency Control Program (SFCP), Risk Informed Completion Time (RICT), 10.CFR 50.69 categorization, Mitigation System Performance Index (MSPI), Significance Determination Process (SDP), etc
  • Experience in developing, modifying, and/or updating PRA models associated with Light Water Reactor (LWR) and/or non-LWR nuclear power plants
  • Experience with the EPRI Risk & Reliability (R&A) software and codes such as Phoenix Risk Architect suite (CAFTA, PRAQuant, UNCERT, SysImp, FRANX), FTREX, and HRA calculator
  • Familiarity with the ASME/ANS PRA standards and related NRC regulatory guides, such as RG 1.200 and RG 1.174
  • Highly motivated to lead and work on challenging tasks and first-of-a-kind (FOAK) tasks with minimal supervision
  • Strong technical writing skills and attention to detail

Engineers with 10+ years of experience will be eligible for top level of the salary range.
