Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks a seasoned operations professional to lead safe, efficient operation and maintenance of gas/oil fueled power generation units, including turbines, HRSGs, boilers, and switchyards. Responsibilities include directing outside crew, developing procedures, and ensuring environmental compliance.

You will start and control plant equipment, monitor controls, and coordinate with the Production Optimization Group for dispatch orders, while guiding lower classifications

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership in safe and healthy work behaviors.
• Preference for an Associate degree but equivalent military/technical training considered.
• Minimum 7 years of power generation ops, maintenance, I&C, electrical or mechanical experience.

Responsibilities

• Start-up, operate, control, synchronize and shutdown turbines, generators, HRSGs and auxiliaries safely and efficiently.
• Lead and direct other personnel in maintenance, troubleshooting, and data logging.
• Monitor alarms, control systems, and plant chemistry; coordinate with POG for dispatch orders and abnormal conditions.
• Perform predictive and preventive maintenance and troubleshoot rotating equipment and valves.
