Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Chicago is seeking an experienced electrical lighting designer to lead and collaborate with project teams on the design, modification, and upgrade of power plant lighting systems.

You will develop lighting single line diagrams, load sheets, calculations, and BOMs, supervise junior staff, perform field walkdowns, review vendor drawings, and contribute to life cycle cost analyses while staying current with lighting technology and codes.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a related field.
• 6+ years of electrical systems experience dedicated to lighting design development/engineering.
• Exceptional AutoCAD and/or MicroStation design experience on power plants or large facility projects.
• Extensive experience producing lighting deliverables for installers and electricians; developing low-voltage circuits; and using lighting calculation programs such as Visual.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in the design, modification, and upgrade of power plant lighting systems.
• Develop lighting single line diagrams, load sheets, calculations, and BOMs.
• Create life cycle cost analyses and update in-house design standards.
• Conduct field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities; review drawings; mentor staff.
