Job summary

The Department of Health and Human Services in Augusta, ME seeks a Nursing Education Consultant to support the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program. You will provide critical in-office training, coordinate with healthcare practices, and guide case management for lead-exposed children.

Licensed RN with several years in nursing education and case management will ensure families receive essential services and prevention strategies, under a hybrid telework option with management approval.

Qualifications

Licensed Registered Professional Nurse with four years of progressively responsible nursing education, staff development, in-service education, patient education, or consultation experience.
Certificate of Registered Professional Nurse issued by the State Board of Nursing.
Knowledge of blood lead testing methods and childhood lead poisoning risks.
Knowledge of nursing case management best practices and protocols.
Ability to train and assist healthcare providers on using information systems.

Responsibilities

Serve as Nursing Education Consultant for the CLPPP to support education and case management.
Help families understand lead exposure health implications and prevention.
Coordinate with public health nurses, environmental specialists, and social workers.
Develop in-office blood lead testing processes and coordinate trainings.
Facilitate referrals and communications across internal and external partners.
