Job summary

STV is seeking an experienced Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to lead the design and delivery of building systems for a diverse portfolio across commercial, institutional, healthcare, higher education, federal, transportation, and public-sector clients in the United States.

You will guide projects from concept through construction, oversee domestic water, sanitary and storm drainage, natural gas distribution, compressed air, and fire protection systems, and mentor junior engineers and BIM

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license; Colorado licensure or reciprocity desirable for leading design work.
• Minimum 8+ years of progressive plumbing and fire protection design experience for diverse facilities.
• Experience designing domestic water, sanitary, storm drainage, natural gas, compressed air, and fire protection systems.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Experience with hydraulic calculations and system modeling.
• Knowledge of applicable plumbing, fire, mechanical, and building codes.
• Experience preparing specifications, technical reports, construction documents, and cost estimates.
• Strong communication, organizational, coordination, and client-facing skills.
• Ability to lead project teams and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and execution of plumbing and fire protection projects from concept through construction.
• Design and oversee building systems including water, drainage, gas, compressed air, and fire suppression.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and system sizing, ensure code compliance.
• Prepare construction documents, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
• Conduct field investigations and condition assessments; support construction activities.
• Serve as primary technical resource for plumbing and fire protection on projects.
• Coordinate with architects and other engineers; participate in client meetings.
• Provide mentorship to engineers, designers, and BIM staff on projects.
• Assist project managers with scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
• Stay current with industry trends and sustainability initiatives.
