Job summary

Advastar, Inc. | Recruiting & Staffing is seeking a Controls Engineer in the Houston area to own PLC-based control system design, programming, and startup for customized equipment.

You will design, program, and test controls from concept through commissioning, collaborating with the engineering team and sitting beside the crew building the systems. The role requires strong PLC skills with Siemens S7 and Allen-Bradley, hands-on troubleshooting, and the ability to manage multiple projects with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong PLC programming ability with Siemens S7 and Allen‑Bradley.
• Experience with industrial controls, sequences of operation, and system integration.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD/schematic software.
• Knowledge of AC/DC power and control circuits; ability to read drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and test PLC-based control systems for custom-built industrial equipment.
• Take PLC programs from initial concept through final commissioning.
• Support FAT and SAT, including start-up and troubleshooting.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and modify PLC programs in the field.
• Design and document sequences of operation and control schematics.
• Prepare and maintain bills of materials for controls and electrical systems.
