Job summary

Baker Tilly in Portland, OR seeks a Principal Platform Engineer — Integrations to lead the design, development, and operation of the firm’s AI agent integration framework within the APG platform. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in platform engineering, systems integration, or related software engineering disciplines.
• Experience designing, building, and operating event-driven integration architectures.
• Strong hands-on programming experience with Python and/or TypeScript.
• Proven experience developing vendor-facing technical specifications and integration standards.
• Deep understanding of API design, versioning, contract testing, and MCP.
• Experience implementing identity management and entitlements in enterprise environments.
• Telemetry, event processing, and data ingestion pipelines with modern data platforms (Databricks).
• Observability, monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, and rollback strategies for production systems.
• Ability to collaborate with enterprise architects, procurement, and external vendors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and experience with globally distributed teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted and agentic development tools.
• No professional certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable integration frameworks including event-driven architectures, APIs, and MCP endpoints.
• Define and enforce vendor integration standards and acceptance criteria.
• Translate technical standards into contractual commitments with data ownership and portability.
• Build data ingestion and telemetry pipelines to feed the data platform and Intelligence Layer.
• Implement secure identity management and access controls for enterprise integrations.
• Develop shared platform services and gateways to support the AI ecosystem.
• Establish observability, monitoring, testing, and rollback for production readiness.
• Lead integration work with external engineering teams and vendors.
• Collaborate with global platform and MLOps teams to align engineering practices.
• Support strategic initiatives and special projects advancing the agency’s AI platform.
